How you can be involved
- Be nominated by your your Governing Body for a place on the
Executive in the first half of the Summer Term, when your Clerk to the
Governors will have the nomination papers
- Attend the locality meetings when they are notified to your
Governing Body
- Attend the Annual Conference
- Write an article or report of any training that you have found
worthwhile or that you think may be useful or of interest to other
Governors, for the Governors newsletter. Any contributions can

The Governor Support Unit, Bowling Hill, Chipping Sodbury, South
Gloucestershire BS37 6JX
- Make sure that South Gloucestershire's Governor Association is
an Agenda item at every Governing Body meeting and that your
Governors are represented at locality meetings and Annual Conferences
- Ensure that your Governing Body responds in time to LA requests
concerning consultation on various issues e.g. Children & Young
People Plan, Admission criteria, SEN Review, Funding issues, etc.
- Attend Governor Training relevant to you or your Governing Body.
It is a great way to meet other Governors and LA personnel to
exchange views, as well as to enhance your knowledge of various
areas of your responsibilities
- Encourage fellow Governors to be involved with you in any
Governor related activities
- Contact Geoff Howell, Chair of the Forum, if you have any concerns
relevant to the Association
