Non-subscribers only have access to restricted  parts of the site, but we hope you will get a feel for what we can offer. (see below for subscription and access)

Your Governor Development Service:

* Keeps you up to date with statutory requirements and changes in legislation

* Supports and guides you through handling complaints at your school

* Provides prompts to help you to carry out statutory and good practice activities each term

* Mentors new Chairs and Clerks

* Provides information, advice and training for governors, Chairs and Clerks

* Helps new governors become effective sooner by providing induction trainin

* Gives you web access to exemplar polices, templates and draft documents that you can download and adapt for your school

* Helps you to plan and carry out effective monitoring and evaluation of your school improvement

* Helps you to recruit and appoint your new Headteacher

* Provides training and workshops in response to governors needs

    We are here to help with all your queries and answer all your questions about school governance.

Are you a new Governor?

If you are a newly appointed  Governor, as soon as the Governor Development Service has been advised of your appointment a new governor pack will be sent out to you. This will contain :-

            • A letter of welcome

            • Details of Governor Induction Training

            • A copy of the Guide to Governor Development including all available  training for the year

            • A copy of schedule 6 from the Education (School Government) Regulations 2003 explaining qualifications and disqualifications for School Governors.

            • An eligibility form for you to sign and return

            • An equalities form for you to complete and return
