All people in South Gloucestershire can grow and develop as a leader. A key priority within the Department for Children and Young People is to develop the capacity for high quality leadership and management across South Gloucestershire in order to raise standards and improve the quality of teaching and learning by:

strengthening the capacity of school governors to fulfil their strategic and accountability roles;
developing the capacity of school staff at all levels in schools and within the Department for Children & Young People;
strengthening the capacity of senior leaders and managers to bring about change and improvement in outcomes for all students;
improving the capacity of schools to become increasingly effective in identifying and addressing the training and development needs of staff in order to raise standards;
developing strategies to share experience and good practice, including networks between schools, clusters and communities in order to develop innovative and effective practice.
