Governor Update

In May 2008 'Governors' Update' was launched combining the Newsletter and the Bulletin. Governor Support  now sends 6 Governors’ Updates per year to clerks for distribution.  Terms 1,3,5 will be a shorter newsletter/ bulletin, focussing on tasks that need to be done during that term, and editions 2,4,6 will have general articles that impact on the role of governors. The newsletter aims to keep governors up-to-date with the effect of recent legislation on South Gloucestershire policy.  Governors are also encouraged to contribute articles. Topics covered in the Update include:

  • Summarise recent legislation

  • Alert governing bodies to new responsibilities

  • Advertise additional training courses

  • Provide checklists

  • Suggest items for governing body agendas

  • Advertise recent relevant publications
